![]() The Morimoto Kit fixes all that.Īs to whether or not to go with the 55w ballasts, although it would increase the power to the lights and give yet brighter lights, there are a few drawbacks to going this route.ġ) The higher power output will cause heat issues and not last as long. There really isn't anything wrong with the OEM Projector housing, it's the bulb and power supply. I didn't see the need and didn't care to change the look. I don't know that you have to swap out your projector assembly unless its your desire to change the look and possibly add LED Halo rings and such to it. The Missus is really going to hate you, because I am going to blame my next upgrade all on Dogpatch! :grin2: Thanks again for sharing your work and the outcome! Job well done, and I would be pleased with the results myself. I am now trying to decide if I will tackle this myself, or go with Jeremy at Retro for the overhaul. I'd love to hear any tips/tricks you have on specifically how you did yours. Looks like I will be doing the 55w based on your feedback. Your photos look like what I see when I fire up my 50" Rough Country Light Bar, but obviously that isn't safe/legal, but it does show me what I am missing. Shame you have to do this to get output that actually does its job. They are "upgraded" in the sense that they have X-Pel clear paint protection film professionally installed on them. If anyone wants my current stock projectors, let me know. I cannot stand the weak sauce output of these factory "projectors" and I am going to order some OEM BAP Projectors (think Rebel - no chrome bezel) for my '17 Limited. ![]() In all seriousness, it looks GREAT (literally and figuratively). Those weren't on with my light pictures I posted.Īlthough I'm happier with the outcome thus far, I guess I'm not quite finished my quest in accomplishing something that should have been done right in an $80,000 truck in the first place.Ĭlick to expand. That did it for me. I'm still waiting for my warranty replacement on one of the failed LED Flood Cubes I put in. The LED Light Bar and Flood Cubes will come on and off with the "Auto Dim" feature my truck has and I'll have the advantage of turning them off when needed through the switch. While I had my headlights out, I soldered a trigger wire from my brights that I'll wire through a switch so that my Light Bar and Flood Cubes will come on with my brights. I think my next project will be to do HID's in my fogs. I've probably spent $1,000 so far on bulbs, light bars, flood cubes and now HID's. Since the day I've owned this truck, I haven't been happy with the head lights and it has been the bane of my existence to fix it. The OEM high and low beam headlights on these trucks should be called "Lame" and "Lamer".
